How we use “cookies” and similar tracking technologies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies (“cookies”) on our website and when providing our
services. We use cookies to operate our website, help keep you safe, improve your experience, perform
analytics, and serve relevant ads. You are permitted to change your cookie preferences at any time in.
What are cookies?
A cookie is a small amount of information that’s downloaded to your desktop computer, laptop, smart phones and tablets (each a “device”) when you visit our website.
We use browser session cookies, which are temporary cookies that are erased from your device’s memory when you close your internet browser or turn your device off, and persistent cookies, which are stored on your device until they expire, unless you delete them before that time.
Some cookies are set by the website itself upon you visiting it, e.g. cookies placed by www.eyeconic.com (First Party Cookies) and others are set by third party service providers who perform some of these functions for us (Third Party Cookies).
We group browser cookies on our website into four categories.
- Essential
- Functional
- Analytics
- Advertising
-
Essential Cookies: Cookies that enable essential functionality and don’t transmit identifiable user data outside of VSP. These cookies may facilitate login sessions, shopping carts, or security features.
-
Functional Cookies: Cookies that are not essential, but help our site work. Examples could include support live chat widgets or error logging that doesn't transmit user data, but won't break our site if they are blocked. These cookies may remember preferences such as language, region, username, and changes users have made to text size, fonts, and other customizable site elements.
-
Analytic cookies: Cookies that collect or share information for analytics purposes. These cookies may monitor how users interact with our sites, where they encounter errors, and where there traffic was routed from.
-
Advertising cookies: Cookies that collect or share data for marketing or advertising purposes. These cookies may track users’ online behavior across websites and show them personalized ads based on their interests.
What other tracking technologies do we use?
Multimedia content player session cookies (flash cookies) are used for the duration of a session to store technical data needed to play back video or audio content (e.g. image quality, network link speed, and buffering parameters). Flash cookies are different from browser cookies because of the amount of, type of, and way that data is stored. Cookie management tools provided by your browser will not remove Flash cookies. To learn how to manage privacy and storage settings for Flash cookies click here.
Social media cookies are placed by many social media plugins (for example the Facebook ’like’ button). We integrate these modules into our platform to improve the experience of browsing and interacting with our website.
Server log files: We automatically gather server log file information when you visit our websites. This includes IP address, browser type, referring and exit web pages, and your operating system.
Pixel: This Site also uses a Facebook Tag API and Custom Audience Pixel Tags through similar use of cookieID’s to collect data about activities of users that are sent to Facebook to track conversions and to allow us to create custom audiences for the products or service that we may advertise on Facebook. This Facebook cookie is a persistent cookie and does not store or contain personally identifiable information.
Sharing of Personal Information
While we do not sell personal information to third parties, we do share your data with third parties through the use of the Third Party Cookies and similar technologies to evaluate and optimize the performance of and analyze your use of our online services and for advertising purposes.
You may choose to consent to us sharing data with third parties or opt-out at any time by adjusting your cookie preferences.
